Organising a fun company event

Ideas on what activities to do

Hi,

A couple of mates and I have been asked to organise a fun day for our team. We're supposed to put a couple of proposals together and then the company will pay for one of the ideas.

The problem is we really don't know where to start. We thought of some kind of fun rafting and cycling type trip but somebody else is arranging that and has asked us not to copy her!

I thought about paintballing or something but I'm not sure if people would like that.

So, any ideas re what we can do? There is no budget allowance so anything goes as long as its not outrageously expensive.

There are around 12 of us in the team.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Oxymoron.

fun rafting

And another one.

Company events are never, ever fun, unless you involve an extraordinary amount of alcohol.

I agree with MichiS, Karting always goes down well.

Ha ha ha ha Don Riina, you always make me laugh! I agree about needing copius amounts of Alcohol. The problem is, we now have a company ban on Alcohol since two twats colleagues from none other than the UK came over for a company event and got hideously drunk and caused serious problems.

Therefore, alcohol is completely out.

Thanks for the suggestions re go-karting. That sounds like a laugh - I'll check it out.

Keep the ideas coming if you have time - thanks :-)

Paintballing always struck me as a bad one. Too many opportunities for grievances to come out.

I didn't go but some of our guys went forging somewhere near Ostbahnhof and had a good day out the other day.

If you want to spend more money we went to Schliersee and did a sort of bavarian olympics day out which was fun.

Walking up to an alm and getting leathered usually goes down well.

The Hochseilgarten in Oberschliessheim is good fun, impossible to get drunk on and not too expensive.

wake boarding park just outside of munich you can rent the wake boarding trainer and the area for an hour or two or more, plus they also have a massive beach area indoor and outdoor volleyvball. went to a freinds 30th there the other week we all had a blast... if you put inwake boarding in Munich in Google their website will come up. Have lunch on the beach andno alocholic cocktails - ps i think your company rules stink!

I once took a load of sales blokes to a whorehouse in Spain after having far, far too much to drink. Alcohol is the only way to handle extra-curricular activities with colleagues, and if there are hookers involved, then all the better. Hurrah for English alcoholism!

if they are an adventurous lot... take them paragliding. it's an incredible experience they'll never forget. there are a couple of beautiful sites near munich you can hike (or gondola) up... and then tandem fly down. send me a PM for rates if you're interested!

Plastic luges in a concrete track. Tell us about it afterwards, I've always wanted to go.

A day off would be fun.
Buffy
Just wanna say a great big thank you for all the suggestions.

I'm looking into most of them and will be able to make the proposal to the company shortly.

I'll let you know what we decide and if, contrary to Don Riina's beliefs, we actually have a fun, alcohol free day!
Johnny English
Make sure you don't invite any krauts, and the day should be relatively fun even if you organise a trip to the local sewage treatment plant.

Paintball.

Fun, active and it gives the lower people in the company the chance to inflict pain on those above them.

This is great fun! I helped organise this for our dept. last year. Take the cable car up or walk and come down on the Rodelbahn!

the Salt Mines tour in Berchtesgaden is a lot of fun. followed by dinner and beer in one of the restaurants in the town. think you can get the train there too.
