If you want to quit your job and you dont have an official contract, is there a legal notice period one must give.
I need the answer quite quickly

Thanks

Normally the notice period is written in the contract ,so I would assume not

Legal cancellation period is 4 weeks before the next 15th or end of month. But as you don't have a contract just don't show up anymore. Except you would want a good referral.

Also, if eurobabs is owed wages, she wants to be sure she gets them...

Am not worried at all about referral and am planning on giving 4 weeks notice, I just wanted to make sure there was no "legal" reason it had to be longer.
I had a contract when I was a freelancer in 2004, but I have been a permant full time employee for 3 years now and never signed a new contract.

Verbal contract is equally binding:
§ 622
Edit: that's 1 month if you've worked less than 2 years and so on... (if you've worked less than 3 months I think it's a week)

Maybe a contract is somewhat "implied" therefore...after 2-3 years...

What about contracts of determinate length (in my case, 1 year) with no special provision for Kündigungsfrist?
Janx, from which document/law did the excerpt you quoted come?

This might sound silly..
But have you thought about asking the boss?
He may know the answer..

Can't speak for the OP but in my case I want the information so that I go into my meeting with my boss prepared. So that instead of asking 'when can I leave' I can propose a date, with knowledge of how that date compares to my contractual obligations.
