Hello,
Does anyone know of a searchable database or website that list current inmates in German jails?
I have a friend who is on a downward spiral and sentenced to a fine or jail time for drunk driving. He has been depressed, suicidal and is also an addict. He has no one around him and has not shown up to work in over a week. I would be releived to know he is in jail.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would start by contacting his local prison, if there is such a thing. Which city was he living in?

I doubt there's such a list. even criminals have some privacy rights.
Especially their families!!!
Ever noticed that newspapers never write down the family names of them.
"Markus M. commited a heinious crime".

He is in a small town in NRW.
In the states privacy is an issue until someone is convicted or if they are a minor. Once there is a conviction it becomes public information here. Not sure how it is in any other country...just looking for some direction.

Presumably you have tried his mobile or Landline.
I would have thought the most obvious way is to ring local Police, explain your concerns and have them go to his place.
I do hope he's ok, good luck.
